I'm nearly fully through, what a brilliant human. I love how much he says 'possibly, I don't know', 'I'm not a mindreader' 'I don't do mindreading'. paraphrased obvs
Applying Eddie's tests of whether something's true to Gaza, I've been thinking lately about how to tell the difference between atrocity proofs and atrocity porn. It came up regarding my book's account of King Leopold of Belgium and the rubber extraction of the Ivory Coast. Some researchers accuse Adam Hochschild of atrocity porn because he claims that 10 million from the Ivory Coast were killed, with hands cut off and rhino whips applied. They claim it wasn't 10 million who were killed.
Where everyone agrees is that Leopold considered himself to 'own' the Ivory Coast and all its residents and be entitled to their labor, rubber and ivory. There was no trade, only slavery. If he could enslave 30M without killing and maiming 10M, does that make it any better? The numbers and his own admission already says he would use atrocity if needed.
From the geopolitical analysts I read, Russia doesn't engage in terrorism techniques against civilians. If they did, I'm sure we would hear about it, like the debunked chemical attacks. On the other hand, Ukraine's ZioNazis, after the 2014 coup, rounded up all the protesters at Mariupol, a seaside cosmopolitan city, and herded them into a warehouse that they set on fire, not allowing the fire truck to get through. This is only one of many incidents.
Even if all Palestinians have been killed humanely, Gaza is an occupation, not a war. The civilians had nowhere to go even before 75% of their buildings were destroyed.
Like Leopold, the real estate mogul in the Oval Office believes he owns Gaza as a seafront resort, and will be creating jobs! jobs! jobs! for Palestinians as cooks and golf caddies. Even without a single atrocity, that tells the story.
Yet we know that Israel enacted terrorism when it detonated pagers in Lebanon, and that the Knesset debated the morality of anal rape of prisoners. And practically every page of the Torah celebrates an act of terrorism.
What would be the motivation to emotionally manipulate the public with accounts of atrocities in Gaza? Anti-semitism or ending military, financial and social support for Israel? If Shemitism is the right to rule over others, as the Noahide Covenant says, count me in on anti-Shemitism.
Oh right! Thank you for the correction, Eddie. I was active against the cocoa plantations on the Ivory Coast, that kidnap children from Mali. I must have mixed them up.
And, being a systems gal, of course I trace that back to the corporations and the price manipulation that forced small family growers into that. Or into commodity export farming in the first place.
I really enjoyed your interview, Eddie, and all the ways you bring out the best in the entrepreneurs seeking your advice. It's an important nuance that the goal of the business is to supply what people want, not do what you want, if I'm not mangling your meaning.
Ahmad has interviewed me on my book, to be posted in the future. It looks at how to take back our local economies through a credit system backed by the mortgages. But I'm always pushing back against the 'gift economy' folks who say, "We'll all do what we want and it will magically work out!"
No, work is a thing. Someone else has to want what you're supplying in order for you to make a living. Whether rubber or chocolate, the slave labor we rely on can't be replaced by a society of artists. We all need to do the work that buys our freedom to do the things we love--along with everyone else.
You got my favorite interviewees back on! I think you should loosen up a little with your kids because clearly they're intimidated by you. I mean, chopping off your head and using it as a bowling ball--imagine what they'd say if they weren't so scared of you ;-)
I never thought that I'd enjoy listening to a business analist but Eddie was terrific.
"I've met your cat and it was nice to you" - ha ha! I've met his chickens too. He's basically a latter-day Fagin from Oliver Twist ;-)
:-)
Your children are just something else 🤗 Baby Doc ...even interrupts like you! 😂 .
Eddie has given me a real sense of 'hope' in this madness..Thanks Eddie

I think it was Congo and not Ivory Coast. Ivory Coast was a French colony. Even wikipedia hasn’t whitewashed it yet https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atrocities_in_the_Congo_Free_State
