I love Stephen Heiner! I'm a paid sub on Palestine Bookshelf, and that's something I do rarely--not because others aren't deserving but because so many are deserving. What Stephen does there is a purely egoless act of service. He brings the voices of Palestinians directly to his audience by reading excerpts and giving a perceptive and appreciative commentary.
There are times he highlights the opposition propaganda intentionally, showing how it works. Most times he reads the clear-sighted prose of everyday observations, or the analytical deep-dive of the Israeli occupation. The poetry of the writers is often breathtaking. Sometimes it's young voices who haven't been heard, other times it's the sages who've been there from the beginning. I've bought several of the books Stephen's reviewed and listen to him regularly.
I look forward to hearing Stephen's background, which he never brings into PB. It makes me very happy, Ahmad, that you two found each other, when your open-eyed outspoken bluntness about Israel drew me to both of you.
